How to Use Focused Inbox to Reduce Email Clutter in Outlook

Outlook’s Focused Inbox helps you stay on top of important emails by automatically sorting your inbox into Focused and Other tabs.
Focused – Emails from important contacts and frequently used senders.
Other – Less important emails like newsletters, promotions, and updates.

Follow these steps to turn on, manage, and customize Focused Inbox in Outlook for Windows, Mac, and Outlook Web.


📌 How to Enable Focused Inbox in Outlook (Windows)

  1. Open Outlook and click View in the top menu.
  2. Click Show Focused Inbox (if it’s not already enabled).
  3. You’ll now see two tabs in your inbox: Focused and Other.

Outlook will now automatically sort your emails!

  1. Open Outlook and click Organize in the menu.
  2. Click Focused Inbox to enable it.
  3. Your inbox will now show Focused and Other tabs.

Mac users can now enjoy an organized inbox!

📌 How to Turn Off Focused Inbox

If you prefer a single inbox view, you can disable Focused Inbox:

Windows & Mac:

  1. Click View (Windows) or Organize (Mac).
  2. Click Focused Inbox to turn it OFF.

Outlook Web:

  1. Click ⚙️ Settings > Focused Inbox.
  2. Toggle it OFF.

Your inbox will now display all emails in a single list!
