Troubleshooting: Why Can’t I Hear Audio in Microsoft Teams?

If you can’t hear sound in a Teams meeting or call, don’t worry! Follow these quick troubleshooting steps to fix the issue on Windows, Mac, and Mobile.


📌 Step 1: Check Your Speaker & Headphone Connections

Ensure your speakers or headset are plugged in (if using wired headphones).
If using Bluetooth headphones, check that they are connected to your device.
Try switching audio devices – Unplug and reconnect your headset.

If the issue persists, continue troubleshooting.


📌 Step 2: Check Audio Settings in Teams

On Windows & Mac

  1. Open Teams and click your Profile Picture (top right).
  2. Select Settings > Devices.
  3. Under Speaker, make sure the correct device is selected.
  4. Click Make a test call to check if you can hear audio.

On Mobile (iPhone & Android)

  1. Open Teams and tap your Profile Picture.
  2. Select Settings > Calling.
  3. Ensure the correct speaker or Bluetooth device is selected.
  4. Increase the volume on your phone.

If you still can’t hear anything, move to the next step.


📌 Step 3: Check System Audio Settings

Windows

  1. Right-click the 🔊 Speaker icon in the taskbar.
  2. Select Open Sound Settings.
  3. Under Output, select the correct speaker/headset.
  4. Increase the volume and test the sound.

Mac

  1. Click the Apple Menu 🍏 > System Settings > Sound.
  2. Under Output, select your preferred audio device.
  3. Increase the volume and test.

If the issue persists, try restarting Teams.
